Social media has become a place where we are able to hide our true emotions, our struggles, and weakness. We display the life that we would like for others to see as our reality. I am not implying that we all do this, but we have all one way or another been tempted to post on social media with the intention of shadowing any hardships. The way we do this is by filtering our photos, positioning our bodies with the most flattering angles, and utilizing certain objects. We try to reach this perfect display to become accepted and liked. So, we begin to feed our egos.
The way we see ourselves is not private; the way we pose or try to position our body, hair and faces…all those little body hints help us indicate how we feel about ourselves. Creating a healthy ego for ourselves is good. It can become dangerous when there is this sudden hunger for attention, to feel accepted and liked by everyone. Sometimes we create this void because we become unsatisfied as we compare ourselves to others on social media. That is why it is important to fuel yourself with positivity, have a healthy relationship with social media, and keep creating your inner confidence. I wish I could write some magic words and find that you all feel confident! Although, truly, I feel like there may be better value in finding that confidence on your own. Everyone has different lifestyles– Certain choices and circumstances have given them what you see…and what we may see on the outside isn’t always the truth.
Make the choices that help you feel happy. When it comes to social media put on mental blinders, allow what you see become motivators not obstacles.
You are in control of how you view yourself, so let it be beautiful.
