Almost everything we do is revolved around time. 15 minutes to relax, 30 minutes to workout, 60 minutes to research and so on. Don’t even get started when we have appointments! Our minds start to calculate how long will it take to do anything or go anywhere. At what time should I leave the house, and what can I get done before my appointment, will there be traffic? We spend so much energy worrying about something that is just an idea. In my opinion, time was created by humans for the reason that we love to have control over everything!
The world is used to the idea of time. It does create some order in our lives. But this does not mean we should allow time to rule over our lives. We stay so focused on it that we allow our life, our moments in the world, to be counted by seconds, minutes, and hours. In an article by Adam Frank, “There is no such thing as Time”, he explains the findings of Julian Barbour. Barbour explains that “If you try to get your hand on time, it’s always slipping through your fingers. People are so sure time is there, but they can’t get hold of it. My feeling is that they can’t get hold of it because it isn’t there at all.”
Everything we do has a good or bad consequence. We should learn to be gentle with ourselves. When we are running late on a deadline, to our jobs, to school, we shouldn’t worry. Instead, take a deep breath and stay positive. As long as you’re doing your best to meet your responsibilities, you will always be on time.
Enjoy the small moments that are in your lives. We all have so much energy and willpower. We are strong enough to chase after what we want in this world. Time will not define who we are, only you can do that.
