True Reflections

Throughout life, we will find ourselves in many different roles. We may be mothers, daughters, sisters, caretakers, babysitters, and so much more. At this moment, I want us to focus on being truthful with ourselves, which is especially difficult to do this around the holidays. We start to focus on everybody else as we make plans, give gifts, and try to impress our families with all the amazing things that may be going on in our lives. This Holiday Season let’s give ourselves time to reflect on who we are and what internal gifts we possess.

I would like to ask you to do something. Look in a mirror and describe yourself as if you would to a stranger. Really define yourself. Peel yourself back like an onion, layer by layer until you reach your core. This may take some time, you might not even be able to do it the first or second time. Take a few quick minutes every morning and night, first to admire yourself as the beautiful woman you are, and then check yourself by visualizing how you want your day to go and how you want others to perceive you. Then, right before you go to bed, think about your day. Playback your actions and words. Were you able to conquer your day the way you wanted? This daily reflection is so important because you will start becoming closer to the woman you want to be.

Many people go day-by-day just surviving and not experiencing life. Each one of you have so much to offer. Allow yourselves to look at the world through different perspectives. Let yourselves make the positive choices that will shape you as the kind of person you want to be. So many of us already spend so much of our lives hiding from other people, so don’t allow yourselves to be a stranger to your true identity. You are another exquisite soul in this world and you should have the privilege to understand and know who yourself. Allow for the time, effort, and attention you deserve. Don’t let anyone define who you and keep striving towards the person you want to be.

Love, Evelyn.
