“For better or for worse…”

Today is the day! Today is the day to think about your families and for all of the things for which you are grateful. Ironically, I don’t want to focus on giving today. Every time you turn the radio or TV on you hear how people are giving back to others and that is wonderful! I’m sure you enjoy hearing the beautiful stories of people being generous and loving. We all need those daily reminders. Today I want you to focus on yourself. As you enjoy the company of your family and friends think about what makes you, YOU! What do you like about yourself? If you were to say one positive quality about yourself, what would it be? I want you to really think about this question— especially since you are going to be around your families, and even though you love them, they often test your patience. Think about who you are and what you are giving back to others around you. Once you have thought about all the positive qualities that make you so great, write them down, and put it somewhere you will see it daily. This way you won’t forget how lovely and precious you are.
Now, I want you to think about the negative qualities that you all hold. Some of you may ignore this and think, “I don’t have any negative qualities.” But I am sorry to inform you that you do and so do I. By embracing all the qualities you have, you will become a better person. Don’t try to bury something that is a part of you, even if it is bad. The more you know about every part of you, the better you will be able to understand who you are and what kind of person you want to be. Take charge of yourself and start turning those negative qualities into positive ones. Work on those qualities so that you can give your best to everyone, especially around the upcoming holidays.

As a human being you are flawed, but that does not mean you can’t make changes for the better. One small act daily can make positive changes for a lifetime.

Love, Evelyn.
